Cornelius

1. Bailey Road Park

Bailey Road Park offers 66 acres of beautiful green landscape off of Highway 115. Sports lovers will find themselves right at home here. The park boasts baseball and softball fields for friendly games or competitive tournaments. Basketball courts give people a chance to shoot hoops under the sun, while batting cages provide a great setting for honing batting skills. Disc golf enthusiasts can challenge themselves on the park's scenic course, navigating through trees and rolling terrain for an exhilarating round of frisbee golf.

2. Robbins Park

Robbins Park is part of a multiphase collaborative project, offering a variety of recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages. While the Disc Golf Course remains temporarily closed due to construction on an extension project, there are still plenty of other activities to enjoy here. Fishing enthusiasts can cast their lines at the northern and southern ponds, each equipped with fishing piers and full of a variety of fish species including Channel Catfish, Bluegill, and Largemouth Bass. Robbins features a Multi-Purpose Field, Sand Volleyball Court, and Tennis courts equipped with pickleball lines for people looking to stretch their legs a little more and get active. A Gaga Pit provides a fun and competitive atmosphere for families of all ages. With amenities such as handicap-accessible fishing piers and ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, Robbins Park is a great option when you have a family that wants to stay active, but can't quite agree on exactly what activity to partake in.

 

Torrence Chapel Park

3. Torrence Chapel Park

Tucked away in the northwest corner of Cornelius, Torrence Chapel Park spans 15 acres, offering a blend of active and passive recreational options. Sports enthusiasts can use their baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts, with the latter featuring pickleball lines for added versatility. Winding walking trails provide a relaxing setting for strolls. You can rent a field or court on their Rental Information page.

 
4. Westmoreland Athletic Complex

Also known as "WAC," Westmoreland Athletic Complex opened its gates for the first time in 2012. Spread across 19 acres, the complex serves as a hub for tournament play, drawing residents and visitors alike to bolster tourism in Cornelius. Its offerings include baseball and softball facilities, along with a dedicated batting cage for honing skills and enjoying friendly competition.

Fisher Farm Archery Range

5. Fisher Farm Park

Still in the early stages of its development, Fisher Farm encompasses a sprawling 200-acre park full of insects, plants and flowers. A great spot for mountain biking enthusiasts, the park has four miles of trails offering challenges ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Additionally, the park boasts an archery range, accessible from the north via the West Branch Greenway. For those interested in archery, certified instructors offer classes for both youth and adults from March through November. Bradford Park

6. Bradford Park

Bradford Park is an expansive 213-acre park located on Hwy 73, just east of Ramah Church Road. The park recognizes the need for a recreational hub in our growing community. Offering ample space for large sporting and community events, it's main feature is an 18-hole disc golf course with two layouts spanning approximately 5,600 and 6,800 feet respectively. This course was chosen as one of the fourteen venues for the 2012 Professional and Amateur World Championships! They also offer baseball/softball fields and soccer fields to play on, as well as a batting cage to work on your swing.

7. Huntersville Athletic Park

Huntersville Athletic Park, situated at the south end of Huntersville on Verhoeff Drive, adjacent to CPCC, provides a range of recreational amenities. With four full-sized ball fields, a regulation soccer field, a versatile multi-purpose field, a 1/3 mile paved walking track, and a picturesque wilderness bike trail, the park offers diverse activities for families of all ages to enjoy.

8. Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics

The Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics facility is committed to offering aquatic and fitness options to all community members. Alongside dry fitness features, the facility boasts a 50-meter indoor Olympic-size pool with a cutting-edge dive tower, catering to members, swim teams, competitive divers, and triathlon trainees. Additionally, it is home to a 25-yard warm pool for water exercise programs and aquatic therapy, as well as an outdoor, zero-depth entry family leisure pool.

9. Northern Regional Rec Center

Northern Regional Rec Center offers amenities and programs for all ages and abilities. Inside, you'll find an 8-lane, 25-yard lap pool, a family-friendly leisure pool, fitness areas, and a multi-purpose indoor sports court. Outside, enjoy nature trails, a play meadow, and more. Activities cater from preschool to seniors, covering various skill levels and interests, including aquatic and traditional fitness, and athletics.
