To Our Visitors: Post-Hurricane Helene

Lake Norman is safe and open for travel following Hurricane Helene. While we are fortunate to avoid the worst, our hearts go out to those who have been affected in neighboring regions. For those in need, we currently have limited hotel room availability for individuals displaced by the hurricane. Western NC Travel Advisory

Foodie Favorites In Lake Norman

When choosing where to dine in Lake Norman, gravitating towards the banks is a given, but don’t be surprised to find a number of foodie favorite restaurants not too far inland that deserve a taste testing.

If an intimate dining experience with endless sharable bites, interesting cocktails and melt in your mouth milk bread sounds intriguing, then Kindred is the place to be. The restored town pharmacy turned restaurant has received national recognition for the unique dishes and isn’t the only favorite in town. In the historic college town of Davidson lies the must-go for these reasons and plenty more. Main Street Davidson, also known as “restaurant row” is home to plenty of choices like the hot breakfast spot, Famous Toastery. Breakfast lovers often come together to enjoy a relaxing weekend brunch followed by boutique shopping and lake town exploring.

Be sure to visit 131 Main for freshly caught fish of the day and begin with an order of skillet cornbread drizzled with warm honey, a staple menu item.

In Huntersville the options aren’t lacking, and if a burger is on the mind check out the award winning ‘Pterodactyl’ at Pinky’s Westside Grill, where Guy Fieri from ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’ enjoyed other favorites from the menu. When visiting NC and traditional BBQ is something you’re craving, make a pit stop at Lancaster’s for warm hushpuppies and a number of BBQ options with traditional southern sides.
